Job Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient care areas and removes refuse materials, along with the replacement of expandable supplies.

Essential Job Functions:
Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient care areas
Removes refuse materials, and replacement of expendable supplies
Delegates and assigns tasks to assigned employee based on the case loads of each unit
Works with the Environmental Services Manager to resolve linen issues and complaints
Removes waste and transport to appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams (i.e. regulated medical, recycle, solid, and hazardous).
Follows all environmental services and infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
Assists Manager to maintain staff schedule
Maintains appropriate Environmental Services supplies to meet hospital needs and stock as appropriate
Assists Manager in auditing each area to ensure compliance in TJC and other performance measures
Completes monthly glow germ testing on random individuals in the department
Updates and modifies daily work sheets when appropriate, monitor curtain rotation, and set up quarterly linen weighing
In conjunction with the Environmental Services Manager, assists in running department meetings
Communicates and collaborates with managers from other services areas to promote optimal work flow and outcomes
Meets routinely as needed weekly with the Environmental Services Manager to report any issues
Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
Maintains supplies and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental
services cart in a neat and orderly fashion
Regular and Prompt work-site attendance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:
Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
Ability to relate and work effectively with others
Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
Previous cleaning experience in a hospital environment is preferred
