Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager- Non-Invasive Cardiology- Full Time - Days.

In this role, the successful candidate Performs leadership activities in accordance with the mission and vision of the organization and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary management team to provide direction of activities and operation of assigned patient care areas. The Nurse Manager ensures adequate staffing is maintained, provides direction to clinical and non-clinical personnel and evaluates the outcomes of nursing care.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Management of Operations- Performance Expectations:
Works collaboratively with Nursing Management Team in planning and evaluating objectives and goals of the unit and demonstrates full integration of services within the organization
Plans, develops and recommends annual unit staffing budget, and assists in planning capital equipment and expense budgets. Monitors expenditures and implements corrective action to resolve budget variances.

Functions effectively at an efficient level in emergency and critical situations by managing the environment, coordinating activities, utilizing appropriate resources and accurately documenting events.

Works collaborative with other Nurse Managers, Clinical Coordinators, Nursing Supervisors, & Throughput Coordinators for the management of patient flow throughout the organization by facilitating the timely movement of unit admissions, discharges and transfers
Coordinates daily staffing and assignments of patient acuity, workload and volume in order to meet staff competencies.

Communicates unit activity on a regular basis with the Administrative Nursing Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing. Identifies and escalates concerns/issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
Demonstrates appropriate understanding of needs for patients and visitors for each specific age group.

Maintains an awareness of cultural diversity.

2. Management of Personnel
Performance Expectations:

Provides the leadership necessary for staff to achieve their goals and succeed within the organization
Responsible for the completion of the probationary, mid-year and annual performance appraisal. Obtains input from Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Educator & Clinical Coordinator regarding employee evaluation.

Provides direction to and supports the implementation of clinical, technical managerial, & educational, departmental and organizational change.

Participates in the selection of personnel for the unit, orients and evaluates the performance of unit personnel, and when necessary, effectively initiates progressive disciplinary action

Effectively communicates through all levels of the organization

Is accountable to assign, coordinate, direct, monitor and evaluate direct nursing care for a given unit.

Directly responsible for the delivery of quality care provided, assuring a high level of customer satisfaction & physician interaction.

Participates in Performance Improvement Activities
Participates and implements performance improvement efforts consistent with the hospital-wide and department specific Performance Improvement Program
Directly responsible for reinforcing standards & ensuring staff compliance with governmental and regulatory agencies including DNV, CMS, DOH, Nursing Practice Standards, and Nursing Policies & Procedures.
Participates in addressing DOH/IPRO issues
Ensures and monitors staff participation in PI activities
Collects and participates in data analysis and provides feedback for staff
Participates in maintaining patient safety standards
Conducts periodic concurrent and retrospective chart reviews for completion of appropriate documentation and provides feedback to staff

3. Staff Education
Performance Expectations:
Oversees implementation of the orientation process for new unit personnel and collaborates with Nursing Professional Development.

Assists in identifying individual employee learning needs and participates in developing strategies for improvement in employee performance
Facilitates at least 10 staff meetings a year to review PI activities including patient safety, restraints, pain management, patient satisfaction, facility acquired wounds, NDNQI, changes in policies and procedures, infection control issues and any issues affecting the functioning of the unit and conformance to recognized standards of care.
Promotes a learning environment and encourages involvement of staff in the utilization of available services and programs, learning/teaching opportunities and the sharing of such.

4. Collegiality/Professionalism
Performance Expectations:
Develops a communication network among other departments to assure appropriate delivery of patient care

Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and other health care professionals

Demonstrates the ability to confront other staff members with issues concerning patient care and/or functioning of the unit in order to reach resolution

Accepts feedback from staff members and management for the purposes of improved patient care and/or functioning of the unit

Maintains knowledge base through participation in learning situations such as departmental meetings, educational programs, professional association participation, journal review or committee membership

Fulfills the annual requirements regarding continuing education

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Professional knowledge of nursing theory, practice and administration acquired through completion of a BSN or Bachelors Degree in a health related field
Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse
Approximately three to five years on the job experience (preferred), including demonstration of progressive responsibilities in unit based nursing management
Practice reflects customer service excellence and demonstrates successful interactions with staff, patients, and visitors
Analytical ability necessary to organize and prioritize unit activities, respond to complex clinical situations, and interpret and enforce policies and procedures
Analytical ability necessary to assist in budget development of assigned area with identification, tracking and response to budget variance
Leadership skills that demonstrate effective management of the area that include maintaining adequate staffing levels with appropriate skill mix and responding to staffing variances
Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format
Attend Annual skills day and Mandatory De -escalation training
ACLS/ BLS certification
Completion of 8 CEU in nursing related topic
Certification in area of specialty within 1 yr of employment; for example , Medical Surgical certification , Critical Care Certification ,Emergency Nursing , Nursing administration.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Non-Invasive Cardiology experience (TEE, ECHO, Stress tests, Nuclear Stress)
Cardiology experience
Outpatient procedure experience

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $93,000.00 - $143,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
